Call Response The majority of fire fighters in Jefferson County are volunteers and most all departments have added full-time (career) fire fighters. Fire departments in Jefferson County have a strong mutual aid system in place to respond to a variety of emergencies. Many different fire systems across the country have looked at the Jefferson County system. Closest fire station response is when an address is serviced by one fire district station but is actually closer to another fire district station. In most situations fire engines respond to the incident to provide the fastest response possible. Residential House First Alarm: (minimum response) 2 Fire Engine Companies / 1 Ladder Truck Company / 1 Chief Officer If it is a working fire, the following units are added: (without it being an extra alarm) Additional Engine Companies / EMS/ Police. 2nd Alarm / 3rd Alarm The repeat of the above assignment would be made by mutual aid from neighboring fire stations.
