COLD WEATHER MAKES FIGHTING FIRES DIFFICULT
The extreme cold we are experiencing
makes our jobs difficult. A few things you can do to prevent
fires are to use caution with all auxiliary heating appliances,
be careful with kerosene heaters, especially inside with
un-vented models. The carbon monoxide from these type of heaters
is deadly.
If you shovel your drive and walkways, don't
bury fire hydrants or block them with piles of snow. We need
clear access to them and the roadway in front of them.
If you use a fireplace, make sure the flew is
open and free of the dangerous creosote build-up.
