Do you have what it takes to be a volunteer firefighter?

Do you have an extra 2 to 4 hours each week to volunteer to your community?

The Jefferson County Fire Service relies heavily upon volunteers. These are people from many different walks of life, but they all have one thing in common - they are willing to put their lives on the line in a moments notice for their community and for their neighbors.

That's OK. As a volunteer you will be completely trained by Jefferson County Fire Department Instructors who have years of experience and knowledge under their belts. You will gain the knowledge and experience that you will need to be a firefighter.

□  Why should I put the time in to volunteer?

Self-satisfaction and the Knowledge to help in an emergency.
One of the most common reasons for volunteering that firefighters mention is the self-satisfaction they feel by giving back to their community.

The fire service offers you opportunities. As a firefighter you can opt to also become a member of the Trench Rescue Team or become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Everything is paid for by your fire department because you have given the time and effort to volunteer.

Firefighters are depended on to respond to calls for emergency help at a moments notice. Be the person who makes a difference in someone's life. Volunteer today!

Your local volunteer fire department is continually looking for new members. Whether you want to be on the front lines delivering fire protection and emergency medical care or providing the support services required to operate a fire department there is a position waiting for you!

We are looking for men and women 18 years of age, in good physical condition, have a valid driver’s license, must be a resident of Jefferson County, available to donate at least four hours per week for training, fire and emergency responses. Volunteers receive ongoing, comprehensive training in all aspects of fire suppression and prevention.
